Seraphverse: The Escape

“Calliope.. Calliope.. Calliope-“ Sonata Dusk hissed at her niece, gently shaking the young draconequus awake.

Cali blinked open her eyes tiredly, looking at her aunt, “Auntie, what time is it?”

“It’s time to go, Cali, we have to leave,” Sonata whispered, gathering up their few belongings, “We can’t stay here anymore, I.. I can’t take how Adagio’s treating you, or your brother, so we have to take him and leave. I know where we can go.”

Sonata wasn’t dumb, air-headed at times, but not dumb. Creating conflict to survive was one thing, but creating child monsters for revenge was another. Calliope and Eros didn’t deserve this, they didn’t ask to be born. So Sonata decided to take them away, to Calliope’s father, Discord, and hope he’d take them in.

Calliope was wide awake now magenta eyes wide, “I can go get Erie, Aunt Sonata, but Chrysalis has guards..”

“No Cali, you take everything to the meeting spot, I’ll get Eros,” Sonata replied, patting her niece’s head.

Cali bit her lip, not wanting to go without her brother or aunt, but teleported away to the forest outside the caves they called home. Once she was gone Sonata sighed, at least one of them was safe. Now all she had to do was get Eros, and that was no easy task.
She snuck through the caves silently, heading for Eros’s room. She looked around the corner and sighed, Cali had been right, there were guards. Sonata scowled, she hated that changeling wretch her sister had aligned herself with, and the centaur wasn’t much better. Chrysalis had managed to recover a few pieces of her magic-canceling throne and had fashioned them into rings for herself and her small hive, so using her siren powers to get Eros out was a no. She’d have to wait for the guards to change out for her moment to strike.. Although, there was only two of them, and they were still likely to listen to her since she was Adagio’s sister.. Might as well give it a shot.

“Excuse me, I need to see my Nephew,” Sonata said as she rounded the corner, head held high.

“No one is allowed to see the prince, by orders of the queen,” The guard replied harshly, these changelings were more starved than any that Sonata had ever seen, and were more like attack dogs than guards; their gaunt, sickly frames, and bulging eyes confirmed this.

“But I am his Aunt, surely you can make an exception?” She asked, narrowing her eyes as her patience waned.

“No.”

Sonata snapped, attacking both the guards and knocking them unconscious, opening the door to her nephew’s room. She made her way to the cradle, but it was empty. With a THOOM the door slammed behind her and Sonata was face to face with Chrysalis. “I knew you couldn’t be trusted!!” The queen spat at her. “I told Adagio you were soft, and now you come to take my son? My chance for revenge?!”

Chrysalis lunged at Sonata, fangs bared, as Sonata battered at her with her hooves. The two fought, biting and hitting one another until Sonata kicked open the door and ran down the hall, Chrysalis and her guards hot on her tail. She rounded a corner where she saw Calliope appear, “Auntie, over here!!”

Sonata galloped to her niece and when they touched Calliope had teleported them both to the forest. Sonata panted, “Thank you Calliope, but that was very da-“

“Where’s Erie?” Cali interjected, eyes wide with worry.

“I’m sorry Cali but I don’t know, Chrysalis moved him, and there’s no way we can get back inside unnoticed to search for him.. We have to leave without him.”

Cali’s eyes welled with tears, a look of betrayal in her eyes, “B-but you said we were all leaving together, that.. that.. I can’t leave without my brother!!”

Sonata took her by the shoulders, “Calliope, we have to, and I swear by Celestia we will save your brother one day, but for now we have to leave. Do you understand me?”

Calliope nodded her head silently, glancing back at the mountain where her brother was still an unknowing prisoner, “O-ok.. But where are we going?”

Sonata sighed, “Ponyville.”

So yeah, here’s a story I’ve been wanting to tell since the Seraphverse started!! I’ll probably repaint it soon, but I was too excited to wait XD
